Our School

One of Paramus’ first schools, Midland Elementary has a rich history of providing excellent educational opportunities for its students. Midland serves more than 240 students from kindergarten through 4th grade. The teachers and staff at Midland are dedicated to developing a friendly community where students, staff, and parents enthusiastically support one another.

Excellence & Expectations

Midland offers a myriad of programs designed to develop the academic, social, and emotional growth of its students. Our focus is on excellence and expectations, and with an unwavering communication to the children that they are capable of achieving success. We thrive on seeing our students shine. Our hope is that Midland School students will carry the Midland mantra with them throughout life… “Work Hard and Be Nice to People!”

Our Programs

Drama
We are pleased to have a drama program that is in its third year producing the school play, which is one of the highlights of our school year. Open to 1st through 4th grade students, our musical appeals to students of all academic levels and truly brings out shining confidence in all our performers.

Music
Midland’s music program includes lessons for both band and orchestra instruments for interested fourth graders. Additionally, fourth graders participate in chorus. The band, orchestra, and chorus perform twice a year in both the winter and spring concerts. All of our students participate in weekly general music lessons and perform in our winter and spring concerts as well.

Academic Support
Midland provides a myriad of academic support throughout the school day. Our reading specialist, basic skills teacher, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, English as a second language teacher, and special educators provide in-class and/or pull-out academic support. Student progress is monitored frequently so that students can move in and out of a program as needed. Midland’s child study team works with teachers, families, and administration to develop and implement IEP’s for students to assist them in achieving their greatest potential.
